What is a digital guest folder?
A digital guest information pack is an online resource containing practical information about your stay. Guests simply click on a link on their phone to find details such as directions, arrival times, Wi-Fi, house rules and tips on things to do in the local area.
What should be included in a guest information pack?
Start with the information guests need before they arrive: the address, parking, arrival time and how check-in works. Next, include details about the room, facilities, food and drink, house rules and contact details.
Add your own tips: where do you go for a coffee, which walk would suit your guests, and where can they do their shopping? A short checklist and the check-out time are useful before departure.
A guest link, a PDF or a booklet?
A link is handy when you’re on the go. You can update the information in one place, whilst guests continue to use the same link. A PDF or printed booklet is handy to have in the room. At Verblijfmakers, the digital folder and the room PDF are both generated from the same accommodation information.
The digital Guest Book requires an internet connection. Offline use is not yet available. A printed PDF or hardback copy remains readable without an internet connection. Personal guest details and access codes are not included in the booklet.
What’s the difference between this and WhatsApp?
WhatsApp is handy for sending a personal message. However, practical information can easily end up scattered across different conversations. A guest folder keeps all that information in one place, whilst still allowing for personal contact.
The Guest Directory also has a messaging function. Guests and administrators can write in their own language. The automatic translation works both ways; the original text remains available.
What should you look out for when making your choice?
Check whether you need different information for each room, which languages your guests read, and how you update your information. Also take a look at the difference between public examples and personalised guest links.
With Verblijfmakers, guests open their personal link in their browser. There is no need to download anything from an app store. Access codes are only valid during the set stay period and do not change automatically on the door or in the key safe.
